Gregory Owen Caldwell

Mr. Gregory Owen Caldwell, age 77, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, October 20, 2023.

Greg was born in Rockmart on August 23, 1946, a son of the late Ernest Caldwell and Mary Ferguson Henderson. He had lived all of his life in Rockmart where he was a graduate of Rockmart High School. Greg was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and was a former member of the board of trustees for the church. He was a member of the Rockmart Masonic Lodge # 97 F&AM where he was a past Master and Chaplain of the lodge, and was very active and had participated in many fundraisers for various charities. Greg was also a member of the Slate City Shrine Club and had a passion for raising money for the Shriners Hospital. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy where he served his country during the Vietnam War. Greg had a love for restoring classic cars, enjoyed golfing, was an Atlanta Braves fan, and enjoyed watching old western movies. Greg retired from Bellsouth after a long career of thirty plus years with the company.

Greg is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Reba Little Caldwell of Rockmart to whom he was married on February 18, 1978; four children, Stacie Sanders of Silver Creek, Ty Caldwell of Cedartown, Laurel Womack and her husband, Jimmy of Silver Creek, and Mimi Pope of Cedartown; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Debbie Little; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, October 24, 2023 at 4:00 pm at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Aaron Johnson officiating and Brother Melton Moss delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites provided by Brown-Wright Post #12 American Legion Honor Guard and masonic graveside rites provided by the West Georgia Masonic Memorial Club.

His fellow masons will serve as pallbearers and include, Harold McDurmon, Larry Gore, Danny Bailey, Bobby Hitchcock, Junior Carter, and Allen Dean. 

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:30 pm until 3:30 pm at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
