Mr. Harry Lee Wright, Jr. age 81, of Aragon, GA passed away Friday, January 24, 2014 in a Rome medical center.
He was born in Aragon, GA on February 22, 1932 a son of the late Harry Lee Wright, Sr. and Ruth Ellison Wright. Mr. Wright had been a resident of the Aragon area the greater part of his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rockmart. Mr. Wright was a Korean veteran serving in the U.S. Navy from 1950 until 1955. He was a life member of Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and served as a Lt. Colonel with the Civil Air Patrol ,an auxillary of the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 1992 from the General Electric Plant in Rome, GA where he worked in Quality Control. Mr. Wright was a member of the Contemporary Historical Vehicle Association of Cartersville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Driver Wright on August 25, 2005; by twin children: James Eugene Wright and Jennifer Lee Wright and by sisters: Rosemary Wright and Carol Ann Wright.
Survivors include a daughter and son in law: Jill and Scott Myers of Rockmart; two granddaughters: Jessie Myers and Joy Myers, Rockmart; grandson, Lee Myers,Rockmart; step grandson, Justin Myers; and two brothers: Edward Wright, Rome and Gary Wright, Rome.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Rockmart First Baptist Church with Dr. Greg Thompson and Rev. Ronnie Puckett officiating. Interment will follow in the Aragon Cemetery with Brown Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of military graveside rites.
Active pallbearers will include: Tony Maxwell, Justin Myers, David Wright, Greg Wright, Ken Wright and Mike Wright. Honorary pallbearers will include the Adult Three Sunday School Class and the CHVA members.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
