Hazel York Brown

Mrs. Hazel York Brown, age 88, of Aragon, GA passed away Friday, November 11, 2016.

She was born in Rome, GA on November 26, 1927 a daughter of James Melvin York, Sr. and Willie Mae Easlen York. Mrs. Brown had lived the greater part of her life in Aragon and was a member of the Silver Creek Church of God. She retired in 1984 from Integrated Products of Aragon.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Edward Brown in 1983; by a son in law, Ormond Sorrells; by two brothers: James Melvin York, Jr. and a baby brother; by three sisters: Deanie Mauldin, Mary Evans and Syble Petty.

She is survived by two daughters: Brenda (James) Thompson, Rockmart and Joyce Sorrells, Rockmart; two sisters: Annie Streetman, Aragon and Pearl Johnson, Aragon; brother, Robert Lee York, Aragon; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Sexton officiating. Interment will follow in the Aragon Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: David Childers, Casey Childers, Christopher Childers, Dustin Sorrells, Chad Thompson, Zach Thompson, David Hughes and Jared Hughes.

The family will receive friends Sunday prior to the funeral service from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. at the funeral home.
