Herbert L. Jackson, Sr.

Thank you God for the beautiful baby boy that you blessed the late William Jackson Sr. and Lillie Taylor Jackson with on July 22, 1942 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. The name Herbert Lee Jackson was chosen and only you truly knew lord that he would play such an important role in the lives of others for many years to come .

Herbert Lee Jackson moved in the early 1960's from his hometown of Clarksdale and sought out to make a life for himself. He later settled in Fort Wayne,Indiana where he established his roots and began to embark upon his life's work as a devoted husband, father and all around family man. In 1976 , he would become united in holy matrimony to his loving and devoted wife Mrs. Brenda Smith-Jackson and they would grow together in love and establish a well lived life together for over 39 years in marriage. Herbert and Brenda moved to Dallas, Georgia ( Yorkville Community) in 1987 where he would utilize his God given abilities and talents to provide for his wife Brenda and their family. He would soon build their dream home complete with its own garden where he would spend many hours perfecting his green thumb! Herbert worked as an excellent carpenter and "Jack" of all trades . Although he worked hard, making a name for himself in the world of carpentry and home improvement , he always made time for his wife and their ever-growing family! He and Brenda loved to travel together and simply enjoyed each other's company. They often took road trips visiting family and friends near and far and casinos here and there. In fact, whenever anyone would invite him to an event, he would be likely the first one to show up and the last to leave. He loved to host mini-family reunions, birthday parties and family BBQ's and fish fry's at the family home.

On Thursday March 19, 2015 at the age of 72, the Lord called Herbert Lee Jackson home from labor to receive his eternal reward. Herbert Lee Jackson was proceeded in death by his father William Jackson Sr., mother Lillie Taylor Jackson , Step Mother Ethelene, his five brothers: William Jr., McKinley ( Uncle Mac), Hersey Jackson , Robert Jackson & Gene Jackson and one sister, Verdell Connor. Herbert leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted wife in Brenda Smith-Jackson. He also leaves three sisters Lillian Jackson, Jo Ann Sneed and Verggie Smith. To continue his legacy he leaves three daughters and four sons: Deborah (Walt )Clinton, Anita (Ellis) Rush, Phyllis (Curtis) Jackson , Herbert Jackson Jr.(Angela), Jonn Jackson (Angie), Amel (Ebony) Jackson and Daveion Jackson. He also leaves 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 12 noon in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
