Howell (Hal) Brown

Mr. Howell (Hal) Brown, age 67, of Rockmart, GA passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at his residence following a brief illness.

Hal was born in Cedartown, GA on April 6, 1948 a son of the late James Howell Brown and Lois Nolan Brown. He had lived the greater part of his life in Polk County where he was a member of the Lake View Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for twenty years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in Vietnam and was a self employed carpenter. He loved spending time with his family and his dog Boo as well as fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Sherrie Powers Brown of Rockmart to whom he was married on September 6, 1969; daughter, Tiffany Hammonds and husband Brad, Cedartown; two grandsons: Kain Hammonds, Rockmart and Brandon Hammonds, Cedartown; two great grandchildren: Mercy Hammonds and Nathan Hammonds; sister, Jo Deems and husband Alton, Taylorsville; two brothers: Jimmie Brown and wife Jean, Rockmart and Gordon Rogers, Cartersville; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Eddy Hughes and Rev. Brent Edwards officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the memorial hour at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
