Hoyt Smith

Mr. Hoyt Smith, age 53, of Old Collard Valley Road, Rockmart passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010 at his residence.


He was born in Rockmart, GA on February 15, 1957 a son of the late T.F. Smith and the late Edna Tabor Smith. Hoyt lived in the Rockmart area the greater part of his life where he attended Rockmart High School. He also lived in Florida for a short period of time and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City Beach, FL. Hoyt was a self employed Entrepreneur.


Survivors include a son, Blake Smith of Murfreesboro, TN; two sisters: Denise Tomlin, Rockmart and Nyoaka Atkins, Savannah, GA; three brothers: Joel Smith, Cedartown, Michael Smith, Rockmart and Earl Smith, Aragon; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 2010 in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Stevie Waddell officiating and Mr. Greg Campbell delivering a eulogy. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.


Nephews will serve as active and honorary pallbearers and will include: Shawn, Kelly, Seth, Doyal and Kevin Smith, Brent, Michael and Jason Tomlin, Carey, Drew, Daniel, Zack, Caleb and Jessie Smith.


The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
