Hugh D. Teems

Mr. Hugh D. Teems, age 94, of Brownsville, Tennessee formerly of Lyons Bridge Road, Cave Spring, GA passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in Jackson, Tennessee following a brief illness.

He was born in the Wax community of Floyd County, GA on August 4, 1916 a son of the late John Teems and Dora Nicholson Teems. Mr. Teems had lived the greater part of his life in the Polk and Floyd County area before moving to Tennessee. He retired from General Electric where he was employed for thirty five years. Mr. Teems was a member of the Cedartown Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy H. Teems on August 27, 1986 and by his second wife, Delilah Kendrick Teems on April 25, 2003.


Survivors include a daughter, Lucretia T. Farley, Dunwoody, GA; four sons: Michael D. Teems, Annapolis, MD, Ronald L. Teems, Brownsville, TN, Charles Kenneth Teems, McDonough, GA and Anthony (Tony) Teems, Annapolis, MD; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cedartown Church of Christ with Ministers Alvis Miller and Ed Lee officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, Rome.

Pallbearers will include: Todd Teems, Chris Teems, Kermit Landrum, Terry Sansing and Bob Williams.


The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the Cedartown Church of Christ, 326 East Avenue, Cedartown, GA.
