Jack H. Purser, Sr.

Mr. Jack H. Purser, Sr., age 75, of Rockmart, GA passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness.

Jack was born in Rockmart, GA on October 8, 1941 a son of Carl Purser and Theodosia Tanner Purser. He had lived all of his life in Rockmart and was a member of the Collard Valley Baptist Church. He was an auto mechanic having worked for Nalley Chevrolet and had taught auto mechanics for the Polk School District at Cedartown High School. Mr. Purser had also worked for Haney Supply and for C. & A. Auto Parts in Rockmart.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Robinson and two brothers: Rev. Clyde Purser and Stephen Purser.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Swift Purser to whom he was married on June 6, 1959; six children: Annette Purser, Cedartown, Jack H. Purser, Jr., Rockmart, Angela Williams, Cedartown, David Purser, Rockmart, Rev. Mark Purser, Rockmart and William Purser, Silver Creek; sister, Joan Clower, Cedartown; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Bellview Baptist Church with Rev. Owen "Bud" Davis, Rev. Bobby McDowell and Rev. Danny Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Eric Summerville, Jesse Purser, Justice Purser, Adam Benefield, Robbie Purser and Barry Clower. Honorary pallbearers will include: Randy Smith, Larry Hindmon, Johnny Summerville, Wayne Purser, Doug Wheeler, Bill Carmichael, Jeff Swift, Cecil Wigley and James Bennett.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
