Mr. Jackie Arch Gore, age 85, of Rockmart, GA (the Yorkville community) passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at his residence.
He was born on July 10, 1929 in Paulding County, GA a son of John Samuel Gore and Lottie Aldora Matthews Gore. Mr. Gore lived in Mableton for thirty seven years before returning to Yorkville in 1992. He was a member of the Yorkville Baptist Church and retired following sixteen and a half years as a fireman with the Cobb County Fire Department. Mr. Gore was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. He loved to hunt, fish and watch sports on television.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Gary L. Gore on November 22, 1999 and by a sister Eugenia Gamel.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 65 years, Betty Jo Gore, Rockmart to whom he was married on July 7, 1950; daughter, Teresa Dale (Terri) Gore, Smyrna; son, Rickey Samuel Gore, Atlanta; sister, Mary Anna Wilson, Smyrna and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Don Rackley officiating.
The Cobb County Fire Department Honor Guard will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the memorial hour at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial gifts be made to the Cobb County Fire Department death benefit fund in memory of Mr. Gore.
The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of the memorial arrangements for Mr. Jackie Arch Gore.
