Jackie Baines

Mr. Jackie Baines, age 73, of Rockmart, GA passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 following a sudden attack suffered at his residence.

He was born in Rockmart, GA on May 29, 1942 a son of J. D. Baines and Lena Mae Millhollan Baines. Mr. Baines was a graduate of Rockmart High School, Floyd Junior College , the University of West Georgia and received his Masters Degree from the University of Georgia. He was a former employee of the General Motors Corporation followed by a twenty year career as a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Baines owned and operated Dalton Carpet Showplace in Dallas, GA for seventeen years. He was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church.

Mr. Baines was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Baines, mother, Lena Mae Baines Robinson and infant son Michael J. Baines.

Survivors include two sons: Gary Baines, Lafayette, GA and Brian Baines, Washington, DC; four sisters: Shirley Waits, Aragon, Brenda Bowman, Aragon, Gloria Crumbley, Aragon and Gail Honeycut, Rockmart; two brothers: Wayne Baines, Rockmart and Ricky Baines, Rockmart; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Eddy Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
