Jackie Carolyn Hunt

Jackie Carolyn Hunt, age 80, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024.  She was born in Blairsville, GA, on August 8, 1943, the loving daughter of the late Troy and Clara Mae Parker King.

Jackie loved life filled with family, laughter, and was known to tell a joke and pull a prank.  As a teenager, she was a Union County Beauty Queen, a good basketball player and Ms. Senior of Union County High School.  Jackie spent most of her working career by the side of her loving husband, Joe, as they ran the local Western Auto Store in Rockmart.  Prior to that, she was a key punch operator for Georgia Power in Atlanta.   After they closed the local store, she worked in multiple positions with Redmond Healthcare.  After retirement, Jackie devoted her time to keeping great-grandchildren, putting together puzzles, and spending time with her family.  One of her highlights after retirement was spending countless hours with her best friend, Joe, gardening and working outside in God’s beauty.  She is a member of Victory Baptist Church.

Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Vivian Martin, brother, William Parker King, and two great-grandchildren, Eleanor Kate Nickerson and Jeremiah Carter.

Jackie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joseph M. Hunt; daughters Carla Hunt Carter (Scott), Robbin Hunt Lee (Dale) all of Rockmart; sisters, Betty Doss (David) of Woodstock, GA, and Kathryn Banks of Blairsville; grandchildren, Brianna P. Sanders (Stephen) of Aragon, GA, J. Blake Griggs of Rockmart, Haley N. Hicks (Rocky) of Euharlee, GA, Hanna B. Nickerson (Brad) of Lula, GA, Jeff Carter (Jeni) of Madison, GA, Jon Carter (Ashley) of Rockmart and Justin Carter (Sara) of Cedartown, GA. She has 20 great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews also survive.

Respecting the wishes of Jackie, there will only be a private graveside service at Rockmart Memorial Gardens.  The family asks for you simply to keep a fond memory of Jackie on your heart and prayers for the family as they go through this difficult time.  

Jackie’s family respectfully requested that flowers be omitted, and donations be made to the Lasting Legacy Fund at Victory Baptist Church, 15 Hendrix Road, Rockmart, GA 30153.

Pallbearers will include Grayson White, Collin White, Jeff Ballard, Ryan Luckie, Aiden Griggs, and Noah Griggs.
