Mrs. Jacqueline Whiteside Purser, age 81, of Rockmart, GA passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in a Rome medical center.
She was born in Aragon, GA on April 5, 1933 a daughter of the late Eugene Whiteside and Easter Camp Whiteside. Mrs. Purser had lived most of her life in Polk County and was a member of the Bellview Baptist Church. She was a Pastors wife for forty six years, a homemaker and for the past twelve years had served as a substitute teacher at Rockmart High School. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Clyde R. Purser on February 23, 2002; by a grandson, Blake Purser and by a brother, Tatum Whiteside.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Purser Whiteside, Rockmart; four sons: C. Randall Purser and wife Dyane, Carrollton, Rev. Keith Purser and wife Brenda, Gainesville, GA, Timothy E. Purser, Rockmart and Jonathan Purser and wife Crystal, Calhoun; three sisters: Dot Godwin, Golda LeGrande and Norma Jacobs all of Rockmart; two brothers: Jerry Whiteside, Athens, GA and Bobby Whiteside, Brentwood, TN; fourteen grandchildren ,fourteen great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bellview Baptist Church with Rev. James Coffman and the Rev. Dr. Bob McCurry officiating. Interment will follow in the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Andrew Purser, Jody Ballew, Zachary Purser, Mitchell Jay LeGrande, Col. Lee Whiteside, Barry Clower and William Purser.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
