James E. Jackson

Mr. James E.(Jim) Jackson, age 81. of 100 Flint Hill Road, Aragon, GA passed away Monday, February 1, 2010 in Cedartown, GA.

He was born in Fairburn, GA on July 2, 1928 a son of the late Pomp Jackson and Mary Odell Giles Jackson. Mr. Jackson had been a resident of Polk County since 1984 and was a member of the Piedmont Avenue Baptist Church. He joined the U. S. Marine Corp at the age of 17 and retired on October 1, 1975 following 20 years of military service as a Master Sergeant. Mr. Jackson was a former employee of the North Georgia Lift Truck Company located in Hapeville, GA.

He was a member of Davitte Lodge # 513 F. & A.M., the Eastern Star Chapter 321 and the Low 12 Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hariett Jackson, Aragon to whom he was married on March 20, 1983; one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Peek, Union City, GA; one brother, Mr. Henry C. Jackson, Old Town, FL; one niece, one nephew and a great niece and great nephew also survive.

Graveside funeral and interment services will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. in the Aragon Cemetery with Rev. John Hooper and Minister Alvis Miller officiating.

Members of Davitte Lodge # 513 F. & A.M. will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
