James Eugene (Jimmy) Deaton

Mr. James Eugene (Jimmy) Deaton, age 79, of Aragon, GA passed away Friday, March 12, 2021 at his residence.

Jimmy was born in Rockmart, GA on November 2, 1941, a son of the late Samuel Deaton and the late Bessie Holland Deaton. Mr. Deaton had lived in the Atlanta and Cobb County area before moving back to Polk County in 1995. Jimmy was a graduate of Rockmart High School and was a member of Seney Baptist Church. He loved to fish, sing and play Gospel and Country Music, and he was a former Baptist Minister. Mr. Deaton retired from Bonded Service Warehouse after forty plus years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Mae Deaton, on August 30, 2012; one brother; and four sisters.

Survivors include his four children: Darrell Deaton, Kathy Burt and her husband, Gary, Karen Pilgrim and her husband, Tommy, and Tim Deaton; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters: Frankie Lanham and Betty Smith; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 15, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Darin Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Ricky Miller, Mike Burns, Quinton Knight, Corey Deaton, Gary Burt, and Tommy Pilgrim.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements for Mr. James Eugene (Jimmy) Deaton.
