James F. Moore

Mr. James F. Moore, age 85, of Rockmart, passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 in a Rome medical center.

He was born in Bartow County, Georgia on June 16, 1928 a son of the late Joshua Fredrick Moore and Ada Lou Hyde Moore. Mr. Moore had lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart and was a 1946 graduate of Rockmart High School. He was selected as Outstanding Senior Athlete and played Varsity Baseball, Football,Track and Basketball. Mr. Moore was a member of the Seney Baptist Church. He retired in 1996 from Lindale Manufacturing Company with 50 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gaynell Hulsey Moore on September 2, 1988;by a daughter Velvet Singleton on December 21, 2011; and by two brothers: Alvin Moore and Ralph Moore.

Survivors include two daughters: Freddie Jackson and Candace Moore both of Rockmart; son, Terry Womack, Cedartown; two brothers: Calvin Moore, Rockmart and Lewis Moore, Lindale; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Josh James officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include: Nathan Williams, Johnny Painter, Clay Ferguson, Brandon Sauce, Ed Moton, Ray Singleton and Mark Touchton. Honorary pallbearers will include: Brent Giaser and Tuff Sauce.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 pm at the funeral home.
