James F. Priest

Mr. James F. Priest, age 85, of 959 Brock Road and formerly of 105 Rome Street, Rockmart passed away Saturday, October 11, 2008 in Polk Medical Center, Cedartown.

He was born in Polk County, GA on June 16, 1923 a son of the late Fred Alexander (Alex) Priest and Cora White Priest. He lived in the Atlanta area for several years and worked for the Merita Bread Company. Mr. Priest returned to Rockmart in 1973 and worked for the Integrated Mills. He was a member of the Piedmont Avenue Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Opal Austin and Mrs. Edna Wills.

Survivors include a brother, Mr. Fred Priest, Stone Mountain, GA; five nieces: Mrs. Mary Owens, Mrs. Gail Waters, Mrs. Judy Owens, Mrs. Teresa Motes and Mrs. Karen Morris; two nephews: Mr. Gregory Priest and Mr. Billy Wills; 9 great nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Monday, October 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Billy Wills, Charlie Waters, Tyler Motes, Jackie Dinning, Bryan Owens, Dillard Cook and Gregory Priest.


The family will receive friends Monday from 12 noon until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
