James Ishmael Lentz

Mr. James Ishmael Lentz, Sr., age 80, of Polk Street Rockmart passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 in a Rome medical center.


He was born on October 2, 1930 in Itawamba, Mississippi a son of the late Curtis Gerome Lentz, Sr. and Gladys Movline Samples Lentz. Mr. Lentz had been a resident of Georgia for the past 57 years. He was a member of the Live Oak Baptist Church and a former employee of the Schwerman Trucking Company, worked as a farmer and later worked as a Deputy Sheriff with the Polk County Sheriffs? Department. Mr. Lentz loved hunting, fishing and working in the garden along with playing the guitar. He was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Gerome Lentz, Jr.


Survivors include his children: Margaret Elaine Lentz, Rome, James Thomas Lentz and wife Bonnie, Aragon, James Keith Lentz and wife Charlotte, Aragon, Janice Marie Thurman and husband Jerry, Aragon, Kenneth Jeffery Lentz and wife Teresa, Cartersville, Darlene Tant, Kingston and James Ishmael Lentz, Jr., Waycross; sisters: Robbie Jean Roddenberry, Folkston, GA and Clairamay Carter, Huntsville, AL.; brother, Paul Lentz, Eatonton, GA; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.in the Church of God of the Union Assembly with Rev. Houston Eaton officiating. Interment will follow in the Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Kodie Lentz, Jerry Thurman, Jeremy Thurman, Matthew Tant, Kenny Carter and Glenn Womack.


The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
