Mr. James Noble Maxwell, Jr., age 67, of Taylorsville, GA passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in Redmond Regional Medical Center, Rome, GA following a lengthy illness.
James was a lifelong resident of Bartow County who was born on October 18, 1942 to the late Noble Maxwell and Christine Gentry Maxwell. He was self employed as a farmer for many years. He also was employed as a truck driver retiring in 2006. Mr. Maxwell was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by a brother Edward Maxwell.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mrs. Lynn Maxwell of Taylorsville to whom he was married on October 15, 1966; two sons: Mr. James N. (Jamie) Maxwell, III and wife Catrina of Duluth and Mr. Jonathan W. Maxwell, Taylorsville; brother, Mr. Bobby Maxwell and wife Drucilla of Taylorsville; two sisters: Mrs. Thelma Langley and husband Bill, Adairsville and Mrs. Eva Garrett and husband Brian, Acworth; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Ministers Craig Hallman and Alvis Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Taylorsville Cemetery with Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of military graveside rites.
Pallbearers will include: Kenneth Moore, Travis Ingle, Lee Maxwell, Frank Sutton, Justin Spires and Danny Roberson.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may make memorial gifts to the American Lung Association in Mr. Maxwell?s memory.
The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
