Mr. James Wendell Adams, age 71, of Aragon, GA passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 at his residence.
He was born in Wilson Mills, Maine on September 12, 1941 a son of William Adams and Florence Cole Adams. Mr. Adams spent his early life in Maine until he entered the U.S. Army. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam and retired with 21 years of service in the U.S. Army. Mr. Adams had lived the past 28 years in Polk County where he worked for the Goodyear Mill. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and was a licensed minister. Mr. Adams loved to spend time playing his guitar.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Brenda Edwards Adams of Aragon to whom he was married on July 26, 1983; ten children: John Adams, Kenny Adams , Jerry Adams and Elaine McGee all of California, David Adams, Kimberly Riddle and Roxanne George all of Rockmart, Shawna Bowers, Virginia Beach, VA, Paige Edge, Taylorsville and Brittany Adams, Aragon; two brothers: Bill Adams and Jerry Adams; six sisters: Beverly Cameron, Sally Champayne, Joan Portis, Gale Keezner, Carol Rich and Marolyn Brazell; 21 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren also survive.
Memorial services will be held Monday, February 18, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Aragon Cemetery with Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of military graveside rites.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the memorial hour.
