Mr. James Edward Wilkes, age 62, of 5081 Collard Valley Road, Aragon passed away suddenly Monday, January 21st..
James was born in Cobb County, GA on October 9, 1945 a son of James Clifton Wilkes and Irene Ratcliff Wilkes. He had lived the greater part of his life in the Rockmart-Aragon area where he was a member of the Piedmont Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Wilkes began his career with the Goodyear Mill in 1965 and retired from Engineered Fabrics Corporation as Supervisor in the maintenance department. Following his retirement from Engineered Fabrics he was employeed by the Cemex Corporation.
Mr. Wilkes was preceded in death by his parents, by a brother, Mr. Guy Wilkes and by a sister, Mrs. Joyce Ellington.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Norma Wilkes, Aragon to whom he was married on December 23, 1964; two sons: Mr. Robbie Wilkes, Aragon and Mr. Kenneth ?Dink? Wilkes and his wife Dale of Aragon; one sister, Mrs. Peggy Ann Walls, Powder Springs, GA; seven grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 23rd. at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Hoyt Lewis and Rev. John Hooper officiating. Interment followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Chris Wilkes, T.J. Wilkes, Josh Wilkes, Joey Ellington, Chuckie Walls, Keith Walls, Jonathan Walls, Todd Walls and Josh Mauldin.
The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
