Jan Hawkins Cole

Mrs. Jan Hawkins Cole, age 69, of Popham Road, Taylorsville, passed away Wednesday August 3, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness.


She was born in Rockmart, GA on February 9, 1942 a daughter of the late Rufus Elmer Lyle and Iris Inez Ford Lyle. Mrs. Cole had lived all of her life in the Polk and Bartow county area. She was the former owner and operator of Euharlee Grocery and had operated R&W Fried Chicken in Rockmart. Mrs. Cole had last been employed by Eby-Brown Wholesale Grocers of Rockmart. She was preceded in death by her son Billy Todd Hawkins on March 11, 2005, by a brother Donnie Lyle and by a step son Steven Wilton Cole.


Survivors include her husband, Wilton W. Cole, Taylorsville; two daughters: Star Hawkins Moore, Lindale and Misty Hawkins, Taylorsville; two brothers: Buddy Lyle, Bowdon and Jerry Lyle of Florida; five step daughters: Darlene Thomason, Adairsville, Jean Cole, Cartersville, Joan Dominguez, Cassville, Sherry Walker Cole, Cartersville and Cherry Hilburn, Cassville.


Funeral services will be held Friday, August 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Roberson officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Toby Moore, Bobby Humphries, James Hilburn, Mark Huskins and Mark Couch.


The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
