Mrs. Jean Brantly, age 81, of Rockmart passed away suddenly Monday, February 25, 2013 in a Rome medical center.
She was born in Atlanta, GA on July 9, 1931, a daughter of the late William Franklin Chapman and Daisy Estelle Singley Chapman. Mrs. Brantly had been a resident of Rockmart since 1968 moving here from Smyrna, GA. She was a 1949 graduate of O?Keefe High School and was a retired employee of Southern Bell. Mrs. Brantly was a devoted member of the Aragon United Methodist Church and loved to spend time helping others. She loved to cook, knit and garden. Mrs. Brantly was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne on March 31, 1961 and by two brothers: Willard Chapman and Charles Chapman.
Survivors include her husband, Bruce L. Brantley of Rockmart to whom she was married on September 1, 1951; daughter, Amy Brantly Mixon, Rockmart; son, Tim Brantly, Rockmart; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Aragon United Methodist Church with Rev. Andy Woodworth officiating. Interment will follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park, Marietta, GA.
Mrs. Brantly will lie instate at the Aragon United Methodist Church from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday.
Pallbearers will include: Jimmy Buchanan, David Mixon, Wayne Brantly, Howard Brantly, Jeffrey Saye and Randy Saye.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Parkway, Marietta, GA 30067.
