Mrs. Jean Lee, age 79, of Rockmart passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 in a Rome medical center following a sudden illness suffered at her residence.

She was born in Paulding County, GA on October 28, 1936 a daughter of Pete Tomlin and Jewel Compton Tomlin. Mrs. Lee had lived most of her life in Polk County where she was a member of the Morning View Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Integrated Mills, had worked as a private care sitter and was a homemaker. She loved to cook, spend time with her family and go to church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded by her husband of 58 years, Homer Lee on January 27, 2014; by a sister, Betty Tomlin and by three brothers: Bobby, Buddy and Arlin Tomlin.

Survivors include a daughter, Marlene Blackthorne, Rockmart; son Robert Lee and wife Denise, Rockmart; eight grandchildren: Jessica Lee, Chris Steele, Elaina Steele,Michael Steele, Jonathan Williamson, Angie Hutcheson, Rodney Hutcheson and Clint Hutcheson; five great grandchildren: Ava Steele, Payton Cooper, Brodee Hutcheson, Konner Hutcheson and Adelyn Hutcheson; three sisters: Geraldine Clark, Rockmart, Sarah Johnson, Rockmart and Evelyn Weber, St. Louis, MO.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Davidson, Rev. Eddy Hughes and Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating. Interment will follow in the Morning View Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Danny Tucker officiating.

Active pallbearers will include: Chris Steele, Mike Warnick, Lamar Lee, Rodney Hutcheson, Clint Hutcheson, Duane Davidson, Jonathan Williamson and Glen Lee. Honorary pallbearers will include: Jimmy Davidson,Clay Johnson and Brodee Hutcheson.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
