Jeanette Atkins Baldwin

Mrs. Jeanette Atkins Baldwin, age 89, of 199 Grady Road Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, August 14, 2009 in a Rome Medical Center following an extended illness.


She was born in Polk County, GA on July 29, 1920 a daughter of the late Booty Atkins and Beulah McDowell Atkins. Mrs. Baldwin had lived the greater part of her life in Polk County where she was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Goodyear Mill. Mrs. Baldwin was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Doyal Charles Baldwin on June 12, 1968, by a grandson, Donald R. Baldwin, Jr. on May 12, 1959, by a sister, Estell Wills and by four brothers: Herman, James, Frances and Sherman Atkins.


Survivors include her son and daughter in law: Donald Ray and Nell Baldwin of Rockmart; two brothers: Mr. Freeman Atkins and wife Lois of Ringold, GA and Mr. Clint Atkins and wife Joyce of McDonough, GA; two grandchildren: Jill Baldwin and Johnny Baldwin and wife Wanda: four great grandchildren: Wes Baldwin and wife Karrie, Brooke Baldwin and C. W. Brock, Brett Warren and wife Lisa and Cody Warren and wife Kayla; four great great grandchildren: Zoe and Sophie Jackson, Kaylon Baldwin and Hailey Brand. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Dabbs officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Ronnie Campbell, Bill Carmichael, Charles Baldwin, Howard Tanner, Ben Wright and Frankie Waits. Honorary pallbearers will include: Benny Tolbert and Harold Wills.


Those desiring may make memorial gifts to the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in memory of Mrs. Baldwin.


The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour at the Antioch Baptist Church.
