Jeanette Carlton Motes

Mrs. Jeanette Carlton Motes, age 90, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Thursday evening, February 13, 2025.

Mrs. Motes was born in Cedartown, GA, on August 19, 1934, a daughter of the late John Ed Carlton, Sr., and Elua Inez Deems Carlton. She had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart and was of the Baptist faith, and last attended New Prospect Baptist Church. Mrs. Motes was a quality control supervisor with Murata prior to retirement. She loved to cook and bake, enjoyed gardening, and was a people person who enjoyed visiting with others.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Motes was preceded in death by her husband, James Donald Motes, on December 2, 2009, whom she married September 9, 1950, a daughter, Lynn Graves, a brother, John Ed Carlton, Jr., a two sisters, Dixie Jefferson, and Frances Richards.

Mrs. Motes is survived by a sister, Jo Roberts, and a brother, Kenneth (Diane) Carlton. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Motes will be held on Sunday afternoon, February 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Motes’ family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Jason Carter, Kyle Carlton, Jeff Barker, Adron Jefferson, Tim Maulding, and Scott Roberts.
