Jeannette Earwood

Mrs. Jeannette Earwood, age 74, of Rockmart passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at her residence following a twelve year illness.

She was born April 16, 1938 in Polk County, GA a daughter of Clarence V. Austin and Hazel Sarah Brown Austin. Mrs. Earwood had lived the greater part of her life in Polk County. She was of the Baptist faith having grown up in the Bellview Baptist Church and at the time of her illness was attending Floyd Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Earwood was a retired Registered Nurse having worked for Floyd Medical Center and also served as Director of Nursing for the Rockmart Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for twelve years. Prior to ill health she was a member of the Optimist Club and the CHVA Car Club. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence V. Austin on April 12, 1987.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Earwood of Rockmart to whom she was married on May 3, 1957; two daughters: Alicia Lee, Bremen and Myra Earwood and fianc? Randy Duncan, Silver Creek; step son, Michael Earwood and wife Wendy, Warner Robbins; mother, Hazel Brown Austin, Rockmart; sister, Glenda Brown Harper, Rockmart; brother, Irvin Austin, Rockmart; five grandchildren: Kim Lee Causey and husband Brad, David Michael Lee, Rachel Elizabeth Jones, Misty Womack and Chelsea Womack; three great grandchildren: Tori Causey, Daytan Avery Jones and Sarenity Jones.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Eddie Branton, David Branton, Mark Garrett, Leon Cook, Derrick Tilley and Edwin Owens.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
