Mr. Jere Ferguson White, age 75, of Rockmart, GA passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011.
No words can describe him, but we say goodbye for now to a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was the eternal optimist who always greeted everyone with a smile and hello, saw the good in everyone and everything, was always there to help others, with strong hands that could build or fix anything from a house to a broken heart.
He and Carolyn loved to travel, garden and spend time with their family. To know him was to love him, and the world was a better place because of him. He was a sweet spirited, humble, loving man who served God, loved his family, and enjoyed life- WE COULD NOT ASK FOR MORE.
Jere leaves behind his loving wife, Carolyn, his adoring daughters Whitney Gulledge, Holly Lanier, Dixie Davis, Leigh Caffrey, Elyse Cochran, and Lynn Korson; grandchildren Katie Caffrey, Caroline Lanier, Slade Sewell, Savannah Sewell, Hayden Siniard, Connor Caffrey, Hunter Siniard, Laycie Brookshire, Kaylie Brookshire, Amanda Campbell, Cole Cochran, Casey Cochran and Mindy Arp; great grandchildren Mary Ella and Brayden; brothers Robert B. White and Paul White; sister Sue Kellett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a 1955 graduate of Rockmart High School, a retired employee of the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Prison Division, after 30 years of exemplary service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Eula Mae White, daughter Tangie Brookshire; brother Gene White and sister Hazel White.
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. II Corinthians 5: 8.
