Jerry Lyle

Jerry Lyle, 74, of Valdosta, and formerly of Panama City, Florida, died at South Georgia Medical Center on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, of a sudden illness.

Born in Rockmart, Georgia on May 12, 1937, he was the son of the late Rufus Elmer Lyle and Inez Ford Lyle. Mr. Lyle was a veteran of the United States Air Force and had served in Guam as a Meteorologist. Mr. Lyle was employed with Eastman Kodak where he worked in customer support for more than 20 years. Following his retirement from Eastman Kodak he worked at a marina in Florida. After moving to Valdosta six years ago he worked as a greeter at Walmart on Norman Drive. Mr. Lyle loved fishing with anyone who would fish with him and he attended Francis Lake Baptist Church.


Survivors are his wife, Roma Gail Lyle of Valdosta; a son and daughter in law, Scott and Jody Lyle of Mansfield, step daughter, Adrian Barrett of Valdosta, a son, Steve Lyle of Rome, daughter, Debra Lyle of Rockmart, and three grandchildren.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the American Heart Association or Francis Lake Baptist Church.
