Jerry P. Gamel

Mr. Jerry P. Gamel, age 69, of Highway 101 North, Rockmart, GA passed away suddenly Friday, December 24, 2010.


He was born in Paulding County, GA on July 30, 1941 a son of the late Charlie Preston Gamel and Eugenia Gore Gamel. Jerry had lived all of his life in Paulding County where he was a graduate of Paulding County High School. He retired in 2007 from Simmons Engineering of Dallas, GA where he had been employed for 30 years. Jerry was a member of the Yorkville Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman. Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Coffman on June 30, 2000.


Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Neva Gamel to whom he was married on July 6, 1979; granddaughter, Haley Kato and grandson, Tristan Coffman; son in law, Shawn Coffman all of Rockmart; one brother, Wayne Gamel, Concord, NC; two nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Monday, December 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby McDowell and Mr. Ed Fennell officiating. Interment will follow in the Yorkville Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Chris Stegall, Jeff Stegall, Dutch Matthews, Whit Dunn, Shawn Coffman,Mike Brown, Mike Shanks and Jerry Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers will include: Scott Moody, George Fulton, Chuck Tarver, Jimmy McCoy and Darrell Waddell.


The family will receive friends Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
