Jerry Theodore (Teddy) Carter

Mr. Jerry Theodore (Teddy) Carter, Jr. age 45, of Rockmart, GA passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 in a Rome hospital following a lengthy illness.

Teddy was born in Rockmart, GA on April 1, 1969 a son of Jerry T. Carter, Sr. and Carolyn Jones Carter. He had lived all of his life in Rockmart where he was a 1987 graduate of Rockmart High School and a member of the Rockmart First Baptist Church. He also attended Jacksonville State College where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He was a licensed minister, loved music , painting and fast cars. Prior to ill health he was employed by Avanti Motors as an auto body technician. Teddy was preceded in death by his father on March 18, 2010.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Kay Carter to whom he was married on February 23, 1991; two sons: Seth Carter and Greyson Carter; mother, Carolyn Jones Carter,; brother, Rance Carter and wife Shelly all of Rockmart; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Rockmart with Rev. Larry J. Bennett officiating and a eulogy given by Mr. Rusty Tant.

Pallbearers will include: Kyler Carter, Rusty Tant, Donald Tinnan, Jeff Morton, Jimmy Spencer, Jamie White, Tracy Warren and Eddie Streetman. Honorary pallbearers will include: David Pinkard, Jerry Tracy, Jr., Jay Chambers, Kaleb Burfield, Justin Lester, Austyn Carroll, Wayne Brock, Ken Coats, Connor Hooper and Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity Brothers.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
