Jerry Wayne Chambers

April 24, 1950 — January 19, 2012

Mr. Jerry Wayne Chambers, age 61, of Aragon, GA passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012 following an extended illness.


He was born in Floyd County, GA on April 24, 1950, a son of the late Jim Chambers and the late Blanche Goddard Chambers. Mr. Chambers had lived all of his life in Rockmart where he was a 1968 graduate of Rockmart High School. He was a member of the Live Oak Baptist Church. Mr. Chambers had retired from Rome Plow after twenty years of service, and he also had ten years of service with Curtis Lewis Motors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Joe and Ray Chambers.


Survivors include his wife, Sandra Arp Chambers, Aragon to whom he was married on June 30, 1972; daughter, Kayla Harrell and husband Brandon, Aragon; grandson, Benjamin Chance Harrell, who referred to his grandfather as ?Hawk Bill? and a granddaughter Brandy Harrell who will arrive in April; brother, Billy Chambers and his wife Dorothy Jo, Grantville, GA; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the Live Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Hoyt Lewis and Rev. Anthony Osborne officiating. Interment will follow in the Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Stevie Waddell officiating..


Pallbearers will include: Sam Gore, Randy Motes, Steve Chambers, Brandon Arp, Phil Holder, Jason Holder, Curtis Lewis and Phil Tilley. Honorary pallbearers will include Andrew Arp and Vernon Gaston.


The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
