Jimmy Carlton Causey

May 13, 1954 — September 6, 2024

Mr. Jimmy Carlton Causey, age 70, of Cedartown, GA, formerly of Aragon, GA, left behind his tired, broken body and stepped into the arms of Jesus on September 6, 2024. We have no doubt he reunited with the love of his life, Gail, and we take comfort in the thought of them being together again and praising Jesus together.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Gail Causey, his brother Jack Causey, his sister Debra Hulsey, and both his parents.

He was born on May 13, 1954 to the late Nath Causey and Lois Thompson Causey. His grandfather Reverend Walter Thompson (his PaPa) and grandmother Ruth Thompson helped raise him. He was a PaPa’s boy and we can’t imagine what he felt when they saw each other in Heaven.

Jimmy was a beloved husband, deddy, Paw Paw, son, uncle, cousin, and friend. He loved each of those roles and filled them well. As a husband, he will be remembered for his deep love for his bride. He was faithful, he was gentle, and he taught his girls what a husband should be like. He served her so well in sickness and in health. He was a great example of a husband who never gave up on his marriage no matter what. He was smitten with her from the moment he saw her long black hair getting out of a truck in the Aragon Village. From the moment she left him, he has longed to be with her again.

As a deddy, he was so gentle and loving with us girls. He was our protector, our provider, had the best heart to hearts, and stories to tell. He would sing “Found a peanut” to lull us to sleep. He would roll our arm hairs into little balls and laugh as we painfully used his comb to brush them out. He built us the most fun things like a zip line swing and the coolest treehouse ever built in Polk County. We would play with his hair and put it in dozens of little ponytails. The real challenge was trying to give him a comb over to hide his bald head. It never worked. He was a great fishing buddy to his girls unless we had the nerve to talk too much and scare the fish. We loved to sit around the table and listen to Country Gold Saturday Night. We’d sing while he played the harmonica. He was the best Deddy in the world and we were so blessed to have him. He took in nieces, nephews, and anyone else who needed a deddy’s love and he showed them just that. He treated his sons-in-law with the same care. He took them in and loved them like his own.

As a Paw Paw, he is remembered for always making a way even when it seemed impossible. He made the absolute best cup of Pepsi in his green snuff cup. His ice to Pepsi ratio was perfect. He did switch to Coke later in his life. I had to put that in there for James. If he wasn’t giving his grandbabies a drink, they were begging or snatching it from his side table. He loved a good prank and loved grabbing their big toes so hard they couldn’t breathe and then popping them. Don’t worry, they loved it! No grandchild ever left from seeing him without a Little Debbie cookie. He always had a Little Debbie cookie! His great-grandbabies loved hanging out with him. He was supportive, non-judgmental, kind-hearted and funny. Paw Paw and Granny had the best bed to take their naps in. His encouragement and love will continue to guide them for the rest of their lives.

Though he faced many struggles and had to overcome many things, he was finally able to make peace with God in his last few months. The love and forgiveness that entered his heart was evidence of that. We can’t wait to be reunited one day.

He is survived by his daughters Michelle Green of Rockmart, Sandra (James) Fay of Cedartown and Nickie (Richard) Kile of Cedartown. Grandchildren- Michael Phanmanee (Ashaleigh), Kayla (Cody) Blissitt, Kyra (Chase) Pope, Leah Phanmanee (Tristan), Logan Fay (Cali) and Makenzie Kile. Great-grandchildren- Will, Aiden, Tanner, Della, and Demi Blissitt, Rhett Pope, and Riverlynne Yarbrough. A brother-in-law, Jimmy Costlow, sisters-in-law, Carolyn Silva, Teresa King, and Janice Hamby. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also.

Our family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to our family, our church families, and friends who have loved us and taken such good care of us during this time. A special thank you to the gentleman on the Advent Ambulance who cared for him and the Advent/Redmond CCU nurses, doctors, janitors, and other staff who took care of our whole family during our time there.

Michelle and Nickie would also like to thank James and Sandra Fay for giving our deddy and mama a home for the last 10 years and for taking such good care of them. None of it went unnoticed.
