Jimmy Purser

Mr. James Robert (Jimmy) Purser, age 63, of N. Bellview Road, Rockmart passed away Thursday, October 27, 2011.


Jimmy was born in Rome, GA on January 11, 1948 a son of James W. (Jim) Purser and Mary Lou Moss Purser. He had lived all of his life in Polk County where he attended elementary school in Aragon and graduated in 1966 from Rockmart High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force serving in Vietnam. Jimmy was a member of the Bellview Baptist Church. He was a former employee of the Rome Plow Company and had been an employee of the Polk County Road Department for 28 years.


He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister Virginia Estelle Dozier.


Survivors include two brothers: Charles Wayne Purser, Rockmart and John Henry Purser, Carrollton; one sister, Billie Colleen Boyd, Bremen; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Bellview Baptist Church with Rev. Owen Davis and Rev. James Coffman officiating. His niece Mandy Loveless will deliver a eulogy.
Interment will follow in the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Royce Campbell officiating and the Honor Guard of Brown-Wright Post 12 of the American Legion delivering Military Honors.


Pallbearers will include: Max Moss, Rudy Arp, Cecil Wigley, Reginald Campbell, Jerry Summerville and Randy Fincher. Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class of Bellview Baptist Church and employees of the Polk County Road Department.


The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
