Mr. Jimmy S. Stegall, age 63, of Rockmart passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in an Atlanta hospital from complications of an ATV accident that occurred on August 15, 2015.
Jimmy was born in Cedartown, GA on December 14, 1952 a son of the late Hershel Stegall and Frances Bishop Stegall. He had lived all of his life in Polk County, was of the Baptist faith and was an avid outdoorsman. Jimmy had worked at both the General Motors Lakewood Assembly Plant and the Doraville Assembly Plant with a combined thirty years of service, retiring as an inspector.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Joyce Horton Stegall on June 20, 2003.
He is survived by a daughter, Shelly Stegall Carter and her husband, Rance, Rockmart; son, Scotty Stegall, Rockmart; granddaughter, Kenzie Carter; two step grandchildren: Kyler Carter and Chesney Carter; sister, Marion Scott, Taylorsville; two brothers: Jerry Van Stegall, Rockmart and Billy Stegall, Silver Creek; one nephew and six nieces.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Eddy Hughes officiating and a eulogy given by Greg McElwee. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Greg McElwee, Chris Scott, Roddy Austin, Chris Carroll, David Lipham and David Duke. The Unified Brotherhood will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 9 pm at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
