Joan Alred Jackson

Mrs. Joan Alred Jackson, age 72, of Cedartown, GA passed away Friday, November 16, 2012 at her residence.


She was born in Gainsville, GA on December 28, 1939 a daughter of the late George W. Alred and Lexie Mae Goggans Alred. Mrs. Jackson had lived the greater part of her life in Cedartown where she was a member of the Cedartown Church of Christ and a former Bible school teacher. She was a former house mother for the Tennessee Orpans Home in Springhill, TN and retired in 1987 from A.T.& T. where she had been employed as a Service Represenative. Mrs. Jackson had also served as Court Appointed Special Advocate for children.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include a son, Lanny Jackson, Cedartown and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cedartown Church of Christ with Minister James Nelson officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.
