Mrs. Joan Parrish, age 67, of Aragon, GA passed away Monday, September 7, 2015 at her residence.
She was born in Aragon, GA on May 25, 1948, a daughter of Mildred Morgan Jacobs and the late Marvin Jacobs. Mrs. Parrish had lived the greater part of her life in Tallapoosa, GA moving back to Polk County in 2015. Mrs. Parrish loved to spend time shopping and had a favorite place to stop, The Goodwill Store. She was of the Baptist faith and spent her working career as a cashier at the Laundry Street Bait Shop, which was owned and operated by her late husband, Fred Parrish.
Mrs. Parrish was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Jacobs; husband Fred Parrish, Jr.; and son, James Baker.
Survivors include her son, Tony Baker and his wife Stacy, Aragon; daughter, Rhonda Lee and her husband Jabo, Tallapoosa; mother, Mildred Jacobs; six grandchildren: Steven Lee, Jamie Baker, Jonathan Guice, Jacob Baker, Jordan Baker and Kadie Ann Lee; three great grandchildren: Brylin Guice, Mikenah Guice and Zechdriah James Guice; brother, Butch Jacobs, Rockmart; two sisters, Teresa Prejean, Rockmart and Cindy Cash, Rockmart; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Matt Meeks officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery of Tallapoosa, GA.
Pallbearers will include: Steven Lee, Jonathan Guice, Jacob Baker, Tony Powell, Scott Jacobs and Marlon Morales.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
