Joann Turner Wigley

Mrs. Joann Turner Wigley, age 81, of Rockmart, GA passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017.

She was born in Blairsville, GA on February 2, 1936, a daughter of the late Carlos C. Turner and the late Florida Nix Turner. Mrs. Wigley lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart where she was a graduate of Rockmart High School and a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church. She spent her working career at Goodyear Mill where she retired after seventeen years of service. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers: Johnny Gerald Turner, James Leon Turner and Billy Turner.

Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Rev. Paul Wigley, Rockmart, to whom she was married on March 16, 1956; two daughters: Jeannie Thomasson and her husband Phil, Rockmart and Jan Smith, Rockmart; five grandchildren: Maggie Warren, Caden Smith, Bria Rose Smith, Heath Watkins and Brion Watkins; seven great grandchildren; two sisters: Wanda Kelley, Cedartown and Loryane Morris, Villa Rica; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 28, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. John Hooper officiating. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Phil Thomasson, Caden Smith, Heath Watkins, John Watkins, Gage Warren and Beau Warren.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 12 noon until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
