Joey Lamar Womack

Mr. Joey Lamar Womack, age 36,of Rockmart passed away Monday, January 9, 2012 in Emory University Hospital, Atlanta.


Joey was born in Rome, GA on October 9, 1975 a son of Jerry Womack and Crystal Taylor Womack. He had lived in the Rockmart and Aragon area all of his life where he was a 1996 graduate of Rockmart High School. He grew up in the Live Oak Baptist Church and was presently a member of the Cross Pointe Community Church. Joey was an avid outdoorsman who loved sports including baseball, softball, basketball and spending time with his family four wheeling. He also coached softball and loved to write poetry. Joey was an employee of the Meggitt Corporation of Rockmart.


Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jessica Womack, Rockmart; two daughters: Chelsea Womack and Allison Womack of Rockamrt; step son, Evan Baird, Rockmart; parents, Jerry and Crystal Womack, Rockmart; sister, April Distefano and her husband Jimmy of Woodstock; brother, Clint Summerville and Megan Brown, Rockmart; maternal grandparents, Patsy and Wayne Taylor, Aragon; paternal grandmother, Sue Bradshaw, Aragon; brother in law and sister in law, Jason and Michelle Cockrell, Cedartown and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.


Funeral services will be held Friday, January 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cross Pointe Community Church with his Pastor Rev. Gary Diggs and Rev. Anthony Osborne officiating. Interment will follow in the Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include: Clint Summerville, Jimmy Distefano, David Baines, Jason Cockrell, Phil Holder, Jason Holder, Chase Robinson and Michael Woodall. Honorary pallbearers will include: Jeremy Baker and Ladale Robinson

The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
