John Michael "Mike" Baines

Mr. John Michael “Mike” Baines, age 57, of Cedartown, GA, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

Mike was born on January 12, 1966, in Rockmart, GA, to his parents: Walter Lee Baines, Sr. and Edith Katherine Keese Baines. He lived all of his life in Rockmart and was a graduate of Rockmart High School. After graduating, Mike joined the United States Army and was also in the National Guard. He later followed his father, who opened Baines Tire Service, working with him and continuing as owner/operator following his father's retirement.  He also worked as a mechanic for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed venturing to yard sales and flea markets and spending time with his family and his precious grandchildren. Mr. Baines was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Lee Baines, Jr. and his grandmother, Lucille Baines.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Amy Baines of Cedartown, GA; daughter, Jessica Ozment and her husband, Josh of Cedar Bluff, AL; son, Justin Baines and his wife, Alesia of Rome, GA; grandchildren: Kaitlyn Ozment, River Ozment and Liliana Baines; brothers: Ross Baines and Rick Baines and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. John Michael “Mike” Baines will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Patnode officiating. Interment will follow the service at Polk Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 12:00 PM until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include D.J. Strickland, Dylan Strickland, David Baines, Jeramie Baines, A,J, Baines, Jeff Baines and Corey Burrell.
