Johnie C. Hester

Mr. Johnie C. Hester, age 85, of Rockmart, GA passed away Monday, May 29, 2017, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Canton, GA on March 15, 1932 a son of the late Thomas Jefferson Hester and Lula Ann Whitmire Hester. Mr. Hester had lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart and retired following a forty year career as a Master Plumber with Local 72 of Atlanta, GA. He was of the Holiness faith. Mr. Hester enjoyed restoring classic cars and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Edwards Hester on February 3, 2011 and by six sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include two daughters: Phyllis Middlebrooks (Terry), Cedartown and Wanda Grizzle (Ricky), Rockmart; two sons: Danny Hester and Tim Hester both of Rockmart; sister, Violet Barbarino, New York, NY; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; special family friend, Donna Cason Baker, Rockmart, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11:00 am in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Doyle Waters officiating. Interment will follow in the Aragon Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Douglas, Jonathan and Houston Edwards, Britt Earwood, Barry Cole and Jimmy Bowman, Honorary pallbearers will include: Donald Edwards, Hubert Cole and Dale Davis.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
