Johnny B. Davis

Mr. Johnny B. Davis, age 87, of Rockmart, GA passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at his residence following several months of declining health.

He was born in Rockmart, GA on September 2, 1929 a son of John Davis and Flora Thomasson Davis. Mr. Davis had lived all of his life in the Rockmart area where he was a member and Deacon of the New Prospect Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1951 to 1955. Mr. Davis was a member of the Daviette Masonic Lodge # 513 F. & A.M.

During his working career he was the owner and co-owner of a number of business ventures including: Davis & Zuker Sinclair Service Station, Davis Body Shop, C & D Construction and Davis Septic Service. In 1979 he was a co-founder of the Davis-Moss Funeral Home which later became Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bessie Mae Davis, brothers: Jerry and Denny Davis and sister, Betty Jo Green.

He is survived by his wife, Loval Davis of Rockmart; daughter, Connie Simpson and her husband Jamie, Rockmart; step son Butch Henderson and his wife Pearl, Rockmart; four grandchildren: Kaleb Campbell, Joshua Campbell, Brooke Swan and Kyle Henderson; two great grandchildren: Lucas Swan and Konnor Swan; sister, Jeanne Roebuck, Sugar Hill, GA; step daughter, Jane Blankenship, Rockmart; two step sons: Louie Clemons, Rockmart and James Clemons, Rockmart.

Funeral services have been rescheduled for Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Purser and the Rev. Dr. Larry Davis officiating. A eulogy will be given by Mr. Jamie Simpson. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery with the Honor Guard of Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion providing military rites and the West Georgia Memorial Masonic Club delivering Masonic Rites.

Pallbearers will include: Charles "Ju" McCown, Jim Swegar, Jody Swan, Ken Adams, Kendal Adams and Terry Baker.Honorary pallbearers will include: Earl Deaton and the Deacons of New Prospect Baptist Church.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Johnny B. Davis.
