Johnny Clyde (J.C.) Bowman

Mr. Johnny Clyde (J.C.) Bowman, age 70, of 139 Moran Lake Road, Rome, GA and formerly of Rockmart passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 in a Rome Medical Center following an extended illness.


He was born in Polk County, GA on January 17, 1940 a son of William Mitchell Bowman and Daisy Mae Eskew Bowman. Mr. Bowman was a member of the Community Baptist Church of Rock Springs, GA and a veteran of the U.S. Army. During his working career he had been employed as a carpenter, truck driver and a textile mill employee. He was last employed as a Security Guard in Chattanooga, TN. Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ernest Bowman.


Survivors include two daughters: Teresa Ann Dickerson and Lefonda Michelle Childree both of Dothan, AL; three brothers: Arthur Bowman, Nashville, TN, George Bowman, Summerville, GA and James (Jimmy) Bowman, Rocky Face, GA; two grandsons: Phillip Dickerson and Michael Teal; four granddaughters: Amber Dickerson, Kendall Dickerson, Katlyn Teal and Dascia Teal.


Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Hills Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Jie Shelby, Dewayne Bowman, Jimmy Pinkard, George Caffee, Andy Bowman and Wade Clemons.


The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
