Joyce Gober Scott

Mrs. Joyce Gober Scott, age 83, of Rockmart passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born on June 4, 1934 a daughter of Jewett Gober and Eva Brumbelow Gober. Mrs. Scott had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart and was of the Baptist faith. She was a former employee of the Arrow Shirt Factory in Cedartown, enjoyed collectables and spending time with children.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jewett Gober, her mother, Eva Hayes, husband, Everett B. "Junior" Scott , granddaughter, Jill Gamel Coffman and son in law, Jerry Gamel.

Survivors include three daughters: Lisa Scott Thaxton and husband Hank, Neva Williams Gamel and Debbie Stegall; two grandsons; five great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Scott; and special friends and caregivers: Lori Arp and Marcella Williams.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2107 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Owen "Bud" Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Chase Wilson, Dutch Matthews, Frank Scott, Chris Stegall, Tristan Coffman, Frankie Scott and Mark Broome.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 pm at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
