Judge F. Marion Cummings

Judge F. Marion Cummings, age 82, of Canton, GA, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.

Judge Cummings was a graduate of Leon High School in Tallahassee, FL. He attended Jacksonville State University. In Jacksonville, AL and received a bachelors degree in marketing from Florida State University and a juris doctor degree from Walter F. George School of Law, Mercer University. Marion began practicing law in Cedartown in 1967. He served as a solicitor of the State Court of Polk County and was appointed judge of the Superior Court, Tallapoosa Judicial Circuit in 1988.

Marion is survived by his loving wife, Peggy L. Cummings of Canton, GA, children: Tara L. Cambardella (William) of Birmingham, AL, Laura C. Anderson (Douglas) of Moneta, Virginia, William M. Cummings II (Teresa) of Dunwoody, GA, and Molly L. Cummings of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sister, Kathryn C. Davis of Ormond Beach, FL, two nieces, special nephew, Christopher Hampton (Nina) of Canton, GA, grandnephew and grandnieces.

Judge Cummings was preceded in death by his beloved parents: W.M. “Bill” Cummings and Laura Lane Cummings and infant daughter, Mary Christy Cummings.

In keeping with Judge Cummings wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation. Donations may be sent to P.O. Box 116091, Atlanta GA 30368 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Donations may be sent to P.O. Box 50 Memphis, TN 38101. If you do not wish to donate to either of those charities, The Cummings family asks that you donate to a charity of your choice.
