Mrs. June Coalson, age 80, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 following several months of declining health.

She was born in Rockmart, GA on August 21, 1935 a daughter of the late Cleve Hooper and Newell Brown Hooper. Mrs. Coalson had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart where she was a graduate of Rockmart High School and a member of the Piedmont Avenue Baptist Church. During her early working career she had been employed as a nurse by Doctors R.B. and Harold Goldin. The greater part of her career was spent with the Rockmart Police Department. She was the first female police officer in Polk County and retired in 1997 as a Sergeant with the Rockmart Police Department following a twenty four career.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters: Opal Hulsey, Inez Thompson and Ruth Welchel and five brothers: Billy, Hayden, Harvey, Donald and Jimmy Hooper.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Coalson, Rockmart; two sons: Tony Coalson and wife Jean, Rockmart and Mark Coalson and wife Kathy, Rockmart; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeanette Dickens officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Brandon Coalson, Matthew Gordon, Chris Gordon, Ryan Wolfe, Kevin Deems, Will Deems, Cole Deems and John Hooper.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
