Mrs. Kathryn Carter, age 85, of 1146 Youngs Farm Road, Cedartown passed away Friday, July 11, 2008 at her residence following several months of declining health.
She was born in Haralson County, GA on November 6, 1922 a daughter of the late Arthur Payne Wells and Sarah Elizabeth Wells. Mrs. Carter had been a resident of Cedartown since 1952 where she was a retired employee of the Goodyear Mill of Cedartown and was a member of the Cedartown Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Eloise Anderson and Gaynell Bentley and by two brothers: C.B. Wells and Ronald Wells.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. Watson Carter of Cedartown to whom she was married on September 6, 1952; one daughter, Mrs. Yvonne Mathis, Cedartown; two sons: Mr. Randall Carter and Mr. Greg Carter both of Cedartown; one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Eaves, Buchanan; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 14th at 11:00 a.m. in the Cedartown Church of Christ with Ministers James Nelson, Doug Sims and Alvis Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and include: Brian Mathis, Benjamin Mathis, Jonathan Carter and Matthew Carter.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cedartown Church of Christ, 326 East Ave., Cedartown and at other hours may be contacted at the residence.
The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
