Katie Mae Waits

Mrs. Katie Mae Waits, age 77, of Aragon, GA passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 in the local nursing center following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Polk County, GA on April 20, 1936, a daughter of the late Dectur (Dick) Waters and the late Lillie Mae Mabry Waters. Mrs. Waits had lived the greater part of her life in Polk County where she was a member of the Seney Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by seven brothers: Paul, McKinley, Jack, Jim, Charles and Junior Waters and by three sisters: Margaret Barber, Sara Gray and Shirley Waits.

Survivors include her husband, Mr. Charles Wendell Waits, of Aragon, to whom she was married on August 1, 1953; two daughters: Mrs. Patricia Williams and husband Ronald, Rockmart and Mrs. Donna Statham and husband Eddie, Rockmart; two sons: Mr. Charles Allen Waits, Aragon and Mr. Tim Waits and wife Darlene, Rockmart; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Seney Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Roberson, Rev. Andy Fennell and Rev. Paul Wigley officiating. Interment will follow in the Aragon Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include: Cody Statham, Chad Williams, Scott Williams, Craig Waits, Brandon Waits and Lee Bagley. Honorary pallbearers will include: Randy Waits, Ray Barber, Wayne Woodward and Wayne Brock.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Katie Mae Waits.
