In loving memory of L. Earl Bramlett (Coach), age 86, of Crystal River, Florida, who went to be with The Lord on Friday, November 15, 2024 at his home. Earl was born on August 16, 1938, in Rockmart, Georgia to William and Annie Dee (Cagle) Bramlett. He moved with his family to Crystal River in 1985 from Lafayette, Georgia. He was a retired teacher, coach and a member of the Crystal River Church of God.
Earl is survived by his two children, Paige Bramlett and his wife Beth; and Megan Bramlett Hathorn and her husband Jon; his six grandchildren, Ben, Bella, Josh, Jackson, Ciara and Jalena; his sister-in-law Joann Coates; and his grandpup Cane. He was proceeded in death by his wife Cathie; parents William and Annie Dee Bramlett; his brothers John and William Bramlett; and his daughter-in-law Brandy Bramlett.
Earl was a graduate of Rockmart High School and attended the University of Georgia before transferring to the University of Tampa where he met and married his wife Cathie on June 18, 1962. Earl earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Tampa before returning to Georgia to complete his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration.
His love of football led him to pursue a career in coaching which began at the collegiate level. He transitioned to coaching High School Football as his truest passion was developing youth and it was also better suited for him to start a family with his loving wife Cathie. During his illustrious career as an Educator and Coach, he received multiple awards including induction into the Florida Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame (2007), State of Florida Coach of the Year, State of Georgia Coach of the Year, and multiple Conference and District Coach of the Year accolades. He was also selected to participate as a coach for the State of Florida in the Florida-Georgia High School All Star Game. As a high school Head Football Coach, Earl had the honor of leading multiple programs he was involved with to undefeated regular seasons and guiding many teams into the post season. He was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) where he, along with his wife Cathie, advocated for the progression of Title IX and was instrumental in compelling the FHSAA to recognize cheerleading as a sport.
Those that spent time with Earl knew him to be tough but fair, an inspirational mentor, a coach at life, a loyal friend and an overall selfless person who had unwavering love for his family. Most of all he was a Husband, Daddy, and Grandfather. You will be loved and missed in our hearts always. You are now rejoicing at the right hand of The Father and reunited with Momma and your loved ones. You have left us a lasting legacy and have instilled in us what it takes to be a winner at life! “What’s the word….PRIDE!”
