Larry A. Brumit

Mr. Larry A. Brumit, age 75, of Hightower Falls Road, Cedartown passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011.


He was born at Young Station in Polk County, GA on August 1, 1935 a son of the late Fred Stanley Brumit and Marjorie Eugene Baldwin Brumit. Mr. Brumit had lived all of his life in Polk County and was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, 43rd Engineering Battalion from 1954 to 1957 serving in Japan. Mr. Brumit retired in 1992 from the Georgia Power Company with 35 years of service.


He was married on April 1, 1960 to the former Doris Grace Meers who preceded him in death on February 18, 2009. Mr. Brumit was also preceded in death by a son, Michael W. Brumit on April 1, 2010; by a brother, Darrell Brumit on March 16, 1938 and by a half brother Stanley Clayton Brumit on October 2, 2010.


Survivors include three daughters: Lori Forrister and husband Kyle, Rockmart; Martie Carter, Cedartown; Margie Brumit, Cedartown; three grandchildren: Ashley Carter, Anna Forrister and Adam Brumit; brother: Fred Eugene Brumit, Cedartown; half brother, Darrell Anthony Brumit, Cedartown; half sisters: Helen Brumit Chestnut and Joyce Brumit McDonald both of Cedartown.


Graveside funeral and interment services will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Polk Memory Gardens with Minister Craig Hallman officiating. The Honor Guard of Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion will deliver military rites.


Pallbearers will include: Tim Robinson, Ryan Robinson, David Gowens, Derrick Rountree, Eddie Meers and Larry Meers.


The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
