Larry J. Cannon

Mr. Larry J. Cannon, age 58, of 2629 Morgan Valley Road, Rockmart passed away suddenly Saturday January 31, 2009.


He was born in Bartow County, GA on May 24, 1950 a son of the late Sam Buford Cannon and Jeanette Hatfield Cannon. Mr. Cannon had lived all of his life in Polk County. He was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church , a volunteer fireman with Antioch Station 2 of the Polk County Fire Department and an avid outdoorsman. Mr. Cannon was employed for over 25 years with Star Manufacturing of Cedartown and for the past 15 years had been employed by the Polk County Road Department as an equipment operator.


Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marcia Grogan Cannon of Rockmart to whom he was married on July 8, 1977; one son, Mr. Robert Cannon, Rockmart; twin daughters: Mrs. Lori Jordan and Mrs. Laura Graves both of Cedartown; one granddaughter, Avriel Jarrel, Cedartown and one brother, Mr. Gary Cannon, Rockmart.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Wright and Rev. Jeff Dabbs officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Jan Cannon, Shannon Prater, Jimmy Purser, Howard Tanner, Ryan Grogan and Steve Gamel. Steven Shuman and Ben Wright will serve as honorary pallbearers.


The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
